The Maintenance Coordinator is part of the plant management team and is responsible for administering and coordinating the repair and maintenance of Amrize South Chicago plant property and equipment. One of the primary objectives of the maintenance coordinator is to improve the value of all Company assets at the Amrize South Chicago plant through increased reliability and lower operating costs while allowing the operation of the equipment to meet production requirements within budget guidelines. The maintenance coordinator assists in the establishment of plant policies and procedures concerning the maintenance department and is responsible for ensuring that maintenance staff are knowledgeable of plant policies and procedures and follow them accordingly. The incumbent has a responsibility to develop effective employee relations, competent subordinates, and collaborative relations amongst the maintenance employees and with other departments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's/Undergraduate Degree or equivalent experience of 7 plus years in similar roles

• Adherence to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators.

Responsibilities

• Understand and comply with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) policies to assure that environment, health and safety are the first priority of the business.
• Actively support safety initiatives and assist the department as needed to improve Amrize South Chicago plant performance and results.
• Inspect Amrize South Chicago plant property and equipment regularly, either personally or by directing employees.
• Produce a maintenance report based on inspections and schedule repairs and maintenance accordingly.
• Plan production schedules, optimize equipment utilization, and ensure adherence to standard operating procedures.
• Contribute to the overall performance improvement of the plant, ensuring coordination and cooperation between all departments.
• Supervise plant maintenance employees to reach the budgeted program within safety, quality, environmental and cost constraints.
• Determine how jobs will be performed and who will perform which activities, including creating and posting the weekly staff work schedule, call-out assignments, and job postings.
• Be available outside of normal work hours for emergency repairs, assessing the situation and assigning the call-out.
• Regularly check on the status of repairs, maintenance, and projects to ensure they are completed on schedule and within budget, addressing issues, finding solutions, and keeping management informed.
• Utilize a computerized tracking tool (Maximo) for all maintenance activities, including entering data and producing reports.
• Direct and guide maintenance personnel.
• Develop, coach, and manage disciplinary actions within the maintenance team.
• Assist plant management with the preparation of the plant improvement plan (PIP) and maintenance budget, ensuring technical justification.
• Perform monthly/weekly variance analysis (actual vs. budget and actual vs. forecast) and use other cost control techniques.
• Manage budgetary accountability within the department.
• Evaluate required repair work and create the maintenance schedule.
• Decide on appropriate personnel for jobs and supply workers with necessary instruction manuals and materials.
• Manage work schedule times for maintenance.
• Maintain a preventative maintenance schedule for all equipment and machinery and ensure all preventative maintenance activities are performed on schedule with minimal interruption of production.
