The Maintenance Coordinator is part of the plant management team and is responsible for administering and coordinating the repair and maintenance of Amrize South Chicago plant property and equipment. One of the primary objectives of the maintenance coordinator is to improve the value of all Company assets at the Amrize South Chicago plant through increased reliability and lower operating costs while allowing the operation of the equipment to meet production requirements within budget guidelines. The maintenance coordinator assists in the establishment of plant policies and procedures concerning the maintenance department and is responsible for ensuring that maintenance staff are knowledgeable of plant policies and procedures and follow them accordingly. The incumbent has a responsibility to develop effective employee relations, competent subordinates, and collaborative relations amongst the maintenance employees and with other departments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's/Undergraduate Degree or equivalent experience of 7 plus years in similar roles

  • Adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and comply with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) policies to assure that environment, health and safety are the first priority of the business.
  • Actively support safety initiative and assist the department as needed to improve Amrize South Chicago plant performance and results.
  • Inspect Amrize South Chicago plant property and equipment regularly, or produce an inspection schedule and direct employees to carry the inspections out.
  • Produce a maintenance report from inspections and schedule repairs and maintenance accordingly.
  • Plan production schedules, optimize equipment utilization, and ensure adherence to standard operating procedures.
  • Contribute to the overall performance improvement of the plant, ensuring coordination and cooperation between all departments.
  • Supervise the Amrize South Chicago plant maintenance employees in order to reach the budgeted program within safety, quality, environmental and cost constraints.
  • Determine how the job will be performed and who will perform which activities, including creating and posting the weekly staff work schedule, calls out assignments and job postings.
  • Be available outside of normal work hours in case of emergency repairs, and assess the situation and assign the call out.
  • Regularly check on the status of repairs, maintenance and projects to ensure they are being completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Address issues which may cause delays, find solutions and make adjustments accordingly, as well as keep management informed of issues and progress.
  • Utilize a computerized tracking tool for all maintenance activities (currently Maximo), including entering data and producing reports for inspections, maintenance projects, preventative maintenance, repairs and other maintenance related activities.
  • Direct and guide (3) maintenance personnel.
  • Develop, coach, and discipline within the maintenance team.
  • Assist plant management with preparation of plant improvement plan (PIP) and maintenance budget ensuring technical justification of plant maintenance operations.
  • Perform monthly/weekly variance analysis (actual vs. budget and actual vs. forecast) and use other cost control techniques.
  • Manage budgetary accountability within department.
  • Evaluate the required repair work and create the maintenance schedule for when the work will be done.
  • Decide on which personnel would be appropriate to handle the job and supply the workers with the necessary instruction manuals and materials for installations and repairs.
  • Manage the work schedule times for maintenance.
  • Maintain a preventative maintenance schedule for all equipment and machinery and ensure that all preventative maintenance activities are performed on schedule with minimal interruption of production.
