About The Position

This is an entry level position. Employee will install, maintain, and repair machinery and electrical systems in industrial establishments by performing the following duties. Regular attendance and adherence to the “NISCO Attendance Policy” including the ability and availability to work a minimum of eight (8) hours per day, forty (40) hours a week, or such other hours per day or hours per week (over-time) as determined necessary or desired to meet business needs. Must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and NISCO policies and rules. Follow “work instructions” and perform operations as identified. Includes the following along with other duties that may also be assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, G.E.D. or comparable from country of origin.
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Must be able to pass internal testing requirements including a Mechanical Aptitude test.
  • Required training which may consist of formal, in-house, or on the job training to fulfill all regulatory training requirements
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of organization.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Responsibilities

  • Must be trained in Hazardous Communication and Right to Know
  • Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment
  • Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine
  • Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts
  • Troubleshoot and install basic pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, and electronic components of machinery
  • Repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment
  • Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment
  • Installs or repairs automated machinery and equipment
  • Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathe, drill, and milling machine to repair machine parts
  • Be able to perform basic preventative maintenance on all equipment.
  • Perform the duties and responsibilities for the safe handling, transporting and clean-up of all chemical spills that occur during an emergency response action, which is related to industrial and hazardous waste management, as described by the Integrated Contingency Plan (ICP).
  • Responsible for conformity to product requirements and has the authority to stop production to correct quality problems.
