About The Position

The Electrical Maintenance Engineer works within the Maintenance Engineering group to improve equipment reliability. This position will work to develop our maintenance program as it relates to industrial equipment and will be involved in equipment analysis to determine the best method of maintaining the equipment as well as following up to ensure that the methods are giving the desired result. The Maintenance Engineer will also be responsible for setting strategies for large scale repairs or replacement of equipment considering the life span and utilization of the machine. This will also involve the capital investment and project management for these scenarios. The position will work with our CMMS software, Office 365 programs and Power BI to analyze equipment failures and to look for trends in equipment deficiencies. This position will involve working cross functionally with maintenance, production, process, utilities, facilities, and other technical groups to reduce equipment failure frequency. The position will also provide input to project teams to ensure maintainability and plant standards compliance for new equipment being purchased. This position will work within the Volvo Production System and World Class Maintenance methodologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
  • Associate Electrical Engineering degree with significant experience in an Industrial Maintenance environment with knowledge of industrial automation, robotics, and controls.
  • One (1) year as an Engineer with responsibilities related to equipment design or upkeep.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 programs.
  • Proficient English communication: written and verbal.
  • Proficient in CAD software.
  • CMMS / ERP

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for equipment documentation and updating drawings, as needed, for modifications.
  • Specify recommended spare parts and work with Central Stores, as needed, to ensure parts are on hand.
  • Work with Central Stores on replacement of obsolete parts.
  • Check the data of emergency work orders to develop plans to address equipment issues.
  • Participate in EWO meetings for area of responsibility to help drive to the root cause of downtime events.
  • Generate or update reports, as needed, for maintenance engineering activities and KPI reporting for area of responsibility.
  • Work closely with Suppliers to improve equipment up-time.
  • Open, lead and execute improvement projects to eliminate root-causes.
  • Provide technical support to Maintenance on repairs of equipment and improving the effectiveness of troubleshooting in emergency situations.
  • Provide troubleshooting support during equipment breakdowns. At times this could include non-standard work hours by phone or on-site.
  • Prepare technical specifications for procurement of new equipment or repair of existing equipment.
  • Design improvements to reduce equipment weak points.
  • Work with Maintenance Operations and / or contractors to schedule and execute Maintenance Engineering Projects and CBM activities.
