About The Position

Coalition is a group of chemical companies working together to solve real-world problems for customers across a wide range of industries. We operate under two main brands: Mission Chemical, which focuses on chemical distribution and logistics, and Element Chemicals, which specializes in chemical manufacturing and custom blending. The Electrician is responsible for performing a variety of diversified duties to assist in maintaining the plant and surrounding properties and oversee facility equipment according to safety, predictive, and productive processes. The electrician reports to the VP of Operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or an equivalent number of years of education and maintenance experience.
  • 4+ years of experience; strong general labor, and maintenance, in the industrial setting.
  • Must be a current Licensed Journeyman Electrician.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to handle multiple tasks at once is required.
  • Thorough knowledge of the methods, hazards, and safety precautions related to diesel engines and diesel engine-driven electric generators is required.
  • The ability to maintain a professional attitude and to work efficiently in a stressful environment is required.
  • Working comprehension of electrical distribution, control panels, and medium voltage switchgear.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Performs preventive maintenance and repair on all electrical items and facilities
  • Routinely runs power to electrical sources where needed, in accordance with procedures and manufacturers’ recommendations
  • Experience working on VFDs (variable frequency drives)
  • Tests and repairs all safety circuits in generator and control units
  • Inspects electrical power generation systems to ensure no faults exist
  • Monitors operation of all power generation electrical components to ensure proper operation
  • Troubleshoots and repairs electrical problems
  • Completes maintenance records and maintains operating logbooks as required; documents all maintenance performed
  • Advises the Supervisor on the status of power production stock, equipment, and systems
  • Maintains control of the Power Plant Electrician's tools and manuals
  • Maintains inventory accuracy at 98% or better
  • Maintains property to sufficient standards and pursues day-to-day projects and department requests of the Maintenance Manager
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service
  • Responds to power outages and equipment failures as required.
  • Maintains a safe workplace program and ensures that safety is the highest priority in the workplace
  • Complies with all Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH), Waste Management, and Quality Assurance requirements, goals, policies, and procedures
  • Provides documentation to these divisions as necessary to ensure adequate and legal documentation
  • Evaluates job hazards and communicates information to staff verbally and in writing through various venues, including weekly and/or daily meetings
  • Monitors loading and operates power generation equipment in an efficient and economical manner
  • Supports the achievement of metrics, whether metrics are directly or indirectly affected by this position’s work activities
  • Works to achieve goals and contractual commitments
  • Trains Power Plant Operators and Mechanics on Power Plant operation and equipment as directed
