About The Position

Flex-N-Gate is a leading manufacturer and supplier of components for the automotive industry, recently ranked 10th of the 150 Top North American Suppliers in “Automotive News.” A growing and vital company, Flex-N-Gate provides a great opportunity for hard-working and skilled individuals. This is a 2nd shift position.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, robots, hydraulic and mechanical presses.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, troubleshoot, diagnose equipment failures, and repair all plant equipment using both hardware and software.
  • Skilled in using personal computers/laptops and related software (primarily Allen Bradley PLC software, Windows OS, Microsoft Excel and Word).
  • Ability to plan new or modified installations to minimize waste, provide access for maintenance, and ensure safe, reliable wiring per specifications and codes.
  • Ability to measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit; pull wire through conduit.
  • Use testing equipment (Ohm/voltmeter, ammeter, oscilloscope).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret procedures; communicate effectively with managers, supervisors, and coworkers.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, able to work in a team, perform under pressure, multi-task, prioritize, and work flexibly.
  • Must furnish own tool box.
  • 2 years formal training plus 2 years practical experience, or 4 years practical experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong documentation skills.
  • Must be able to climb ladders up to 20 feet and on top of equipment, in a safe manner, when needed.
  • Lifting requirements range from 30-100 lbs. occasionally.
  • Must be able to work in awkward positions including lying on back and working overhead, pulling wire overhead.
  • Must be able to safely operate cranes, hoists, forklift, and man-lift.
  • Must be able to work in variable temperatures inside and outside, from subzero to 130°F.
  • The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • Ability to work in both a non-climate controlled manufacturing and office environment.
  • Upper body mobility is required along with the physical requirements of lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling.
  • Must be able to stand 90% of the time with frequent walking.
  • Lift using one or two hands up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional use of forceful abilities from 1 to 30 pounds during the duration of the shift.
  • Basic electrical safety training for safety awareness only.

  • Preferably knowledge of the automotive industry.
  • Proven attention to detail, punctuality with deadlines, and ability to perform high-quality work in short time frames.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to breakdown calls as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and repair plant equipment.
  • Install plant equipment and make modifications to programs and equipment as required.
  • Install control and distribution devices (switches, relays, distribution panels).
  • Install or repair lighting and maintain facility upkeep.
  • Observe equipment to detect hazards and adjustment needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
