About The Position

Nucor Steel West Virginia is seeking a Maintenance Electrician. The Maintenance Electrician is responsible for safely maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving complex electrical and control systems to support steelmaking operations. This role includes diagnosing and repairing equipment, performing preventive maintenance, and working with PLCs, drives, instrumentation, and industrial networks. Candidates must demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, interpret schematics, and contribute to improving safety, quality, reliability, and cost performance. The position also involves training teammates on new or modified systems. This role requires flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. A strong commitment to safety, accountability, and teamwork is essential. Nucor Steel West Virginia is Nucor's new sheet mill with advanced steelmaking capabilities. This advanced manufacturing facility is located along the Ohio River near both Huntington and Charleston, WV. This is a full-time position located in Apple Grove, WV. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Requirements

  • Fundamental understanding of electrical theory
  • Experience troubleshooting low voltage (<600VAC) motors and controllers.
  • Experience troubleshooting PLCs, instrumentation, process control devices, and VFDs.
  • 2+ years’ experience in industrial or military electrical maintenance.
  • Ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Steel Mill experience.
  • 2-year or 4-year degree in electrical or related field.
