About The Position

This role is responsible for responding to breakdown calls, troubleshooting and repairing plant equipment, and installing new equipment. Modifications to programs and equipment may also be required. The position involves working with various mechanical and electrical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, robots, and presses. The electrician will be responsible for ensuring all wiring is safe, reliable, and meets specifications and codes. This role also includes facility upkeep and maintaining lighting. The job requires strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills, with the ability to work under pressure and in a team environment. The position is on the 3rd shift.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, robots, hydraulic and mechanical presses.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose equipment failures, and repair all plant equipment using both hardware and software.
  • Skilled in using personal computers/laptops and related software (primarily Allen Bradley PLC software, Windows OS, Microsoft Excel and Word).
  • Ability to measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit; pull wire through conduit.
  • Use testing equipment (Ohm/voltmeter, ammeter, oscilloscope).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret procedures.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, able to work in a team.
  • Must furnish own tool box.
  • 2 years formal training plus 2 years practical experience, or 4 years practical experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong documentation skills.
  • Proven attention to detail, punctuality with deadlines, and ability to perform high-quality work in short time frames.
  • Must be able to climb ladders up to 20 feet and on top of equipment, in a safe manner, when needed.
  • Lifting requirements range from 30-100 lbs. occasionally.
  • Must be able to work in awkward positions including lying on back and working overhead, pulling wire overhead.
  • Must be able to safely operate cranes, hoists, forklift, and man-lift.
  • Must be able to work in variable temperatures inside and outside, from subzero to 130°F.
  • The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • Ability to work in both a non-climate controlled manufacturing and office environment.
  • Upper body mobility is required along with the physical requirements of lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling.
  • Must be able to stand 90% of the time with frequent walking.
  • Lift using one or two hands up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional use of forceful abilities from 1 to 30 pounds during the duration of the shift.
  • Basic electrical safety training for safety awareness only.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to breakdown calls as needed.

  • Plan new or modified installations to minimize waste, provide access for maintenance, and ensure safe, reliable wiring per specifications and codes.
  • Install control and distribution devices (switches, relays, distribution panels).
  • Install or repair lighting and maintain facility upkeep.
  • Observe equipment to detect hazards and adjustment needs.
  • Communicate effectively with managers, supervisors, and coworkers.
  • Perform under pressure, multi-task, prioritize, and work flexibly.
  • Other duties as assigned.
