About The Position

The Electrical Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and installing electrical and mechanical systems on production and facility support equipment within a polystyrene tray manufacturing environment. This position plays a critical role in supporting safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations across all production areas and utility systems.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of three years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong industrial electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of industrial automation systems.
  • Understanding of OSHA and NFPA electrical safety standards.

Nice To Haves

  • technical or vocational training preferred
  • Experience with PLCs, VFDs, motors, sensors, and industrial control systems preferred.
  • Experience with extrusion and thermoforming equipment is a plus.
  • Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
  • Experience using CMMS maintenance systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems on manufacturing and facility support equipment.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance activities to minimize equipment downtime and improve operational reliability.
  • Diagnose equipment failures using electrical schematics, manuals, meters, and diagnostic tools.
  • Install, replace, and repair motors, drives, sensors, relays, switches, control components, and other industrial electrical equipment.
  • Support production equipment including: NRM foam extruders, Irwin Thermoformers, Rennco packaging equipment, Waldrop Padders.
  • Maintain and repair facility support equipment including air compressors, pumps, hydraulic systems, cooling tower water systems, and other plant utilities.
  • Troubleshoot PLC-controlled systems and perform basic programming modifications when required.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and electrical safety standards.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Work closely with production personnel to resolve equipment issues and improve machine reliability.
  • Complete maintenance work orders and maintain accurate repair documentation.
  • Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain housekeeping and organization standards in maintenance and production areas.
