The Maintenance Mechanic I is responsible for performing basic preventative maintenance on machinery, equipment, and tools, and assists other members of the Maintenance Department in various machine/building repairs. This role requires a working knowledge of industrial electrical systems including 480V/277V three-phase power, 240V/120V single-phase power, and 24VDC control circuits. The individual must be able to safely troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical control systems, motors, motor starters, contactors, relays, sensors, limit switches, and variable frequency drives (VFDs). Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control drawings is essential, as is experience using electrical test equipment. Knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment and industrial automation systems is preferred. A strong understanding of lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and electrical safety practices in a manufacturing environment is also required, along with the ability to identify and troubleshoot power distribution, control circuit, and machine electrical faults with minimal supervision.
