About The Position

The Electrical Controls Engineer will take a role in the implementation and troubleshooting of electrical control systems/designs, PLC/HMI commissioning, performing equipment checks, equipment/system start-ups, data collection, and optimization of control systems. This role supports US customer manufacturing tool controls, assists with the coordination of new equipment installation and implementation, and maintains and updates manufacturing process tool electrical drawings. The engineer will troubleshoot and problem-solve equipment controls-related issues, recommend controls policy/standard changes, and interface with multiple departments and customer stakeholders. They will ensure adherence to safety procedures and good housekeeping standards, and maintain OSHA 10 – General Industry certification.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of manufacturing equipment controls engineering experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field; or equivalent years of work experience
  • Experience in controls engineering techniques and practices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical/electronic control systems.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and safety requirements.
  • Experience using AutoDesk AutoCad drafting software to create electrical schematics and panel layouts.
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation Logix platform PLC’s, including ladder and function block diagrams.
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation Human Machine Interfaces (HMI).
  • Knowledge of PLC Siemens and Mitsubishi platforms.
  • Knowledge of robotic systems including safety requirements and design/implementation practices.
  • Experience with motion controls including stepper motors, servo motors, and AC/DC Drives.
  • Understanding of computer hardware/applications and the Microsoft Office family.
  • Some Microsoft SQL Server Database configuration experience.
  • Experience in at least one multi-tiered architecture using C#, VB.NET, HTML, XML and SQL.
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, clean room garments.)

Responsibilities

  • Supporting US customer manufacturing tool controls.
  • Assisting with coordination of new equipment installation and implementation.
  • Maintaining and updating manufacturing process tool electrical drawings, ensuring the tracking of equipment changes is documented, and drawings are kept current.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving equipment controls-related issues and recommending controls policy/standard changes, if possible, to prevent future issues with new manufacturing process tools.
  • Interfacing with multiple departments within the organization and customer stakeholders to ensure controls policies/standards are understood and being adhered to.
  • Maintaining effective communication levels and fostering team building.
  • Ensuring adherence to all safety procedures and good housekeeping standards.
  • Maintaining OSHA 10 – General Industry certification and participates in additional safety training as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
