About The Position

The custodian is responsible for keeping the assigned area of the school clean, safe, functional and secure. Custodian workers must maintain the school building in a state of operational excellence. This position is full-time (40 hours per week) and includes health and dental coverage, pension, and paid holidays/vacation. The hours of this position are Monday - Friday 3:30pm - Midnight. Summer hours are 6:00am - 4:30pm, Monday - Thursday. Hours will be determined according to the school calendar.

Requirements

High school graduate or GED.
Physically able to lift, bend, stoop, climb and reach, able to lift at least 50 pounds.
Verbal skills to communicate with co-workers, school staff and others.
Self-motivated and prompt in performing tasks.
Willingness to support the mission of Gabriel Richard Catholic High School and a Catholic Education
High level of discretion, confidentiality, and integrity.
Ability to be reached by phone.
Willing to provide authorization for a criminal background check
Willing to participate in a Protecting God’s Children Workshop

Responsibilities

Maintain clean and neat storage areas supplies and equipment in the area of the building assigned.
Maintain good sanitary conditions of facilities.
Stocks restrooms with necessary paper products.
Notifies the director concerning the need for repairs.
Maintains surrounding premises as needed.
Acts as backup to clean and service unassigned areas as needed.
On-call availability for emergencies.
Request cleaning supplies and equipment as needed.
Wash windows and walls
Scrub, wax and buff floors periodically.
Vacuum hallways, offices and all other areas.
Move and set up furniture.
Change light bulbs.
Keep locker doors cleaned.
Clean Café, buff floor.
Dust around windows, doors, pictures, ledges, and bookcases.
Keep the staff lounge clean, sink, refrigerator, tables and microwaves.
Assist with the removal of snow/ice prior to school events and on no school days.
Perform other duties as assigned.
