Under general direction, supervises, leads, and directs small crew in the construction, operation, repair, maintenance and replacement of concrete or asphalt pavement; plans, organizes projects, and performs related work as required. This role involves performing maintenance and repair of streets, alleys, signs and drainage systems, handling daily work orders and worksheets, and maintaining daily logs and reports. The leader will drive city vehicles, operate equipment and hand tools, and oversee the activities of Maintenance Workers. They are responsible for coordinating crew activities, ensuring materials and equipment are in good working condition, enforcing department rules, making minor equipment repairs, reading grades, and using survey instruments for concrete and asphalt repairs. Training subordinates on pavement repair and maintenance operations, ensuring proper equipment and materials are available, inspecting equipment, and performing preventative maintenance are also key duties. The role requires completing service requests, work orders, and maintaining records. Additionally, the leader will manage inventory, initiate purchase requisitions, supervise routine and preventive maintenance/repair of streets, alleys, and sidewalks, and operate heavy machinery when needed. Regular, reliable attendance and the ability to maintain professional working relationships are essential.
