Hours/Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:30am - 3:00pm As a Controls Technician at our Kerry Byesville site, you’ll play a key role in keeping automated production equipment and control systems running safely, efficiently, and reliably. You’ll troubleshoot PLC-controlled machinery, support electrical and automation systems, and help minimize downtime in a fast-paced beverage manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on controls role where your technical skills will directly support safe, reliable production and help drive continuous improvement across high-speed beverage manufacturing operations.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of industrial maintenance, electrical troubleshooting, or PLC controls experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of PLC troubleshooting and programming, including ladder logic, HMI systems, Allen-Bradley ControlLogix/CompactLogix, and Siemens platforms.
  • Proficient in electrical troubleshooting up to 480V, VFDs, servo motors, industrial networking, pneumatics, hydraulics, instrumentation, and process controls.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical drawings, and ladder logic.
  • CMMS experience and basic computer skills required; SAP knowledge is helpful.
  • Practiced in safe work habits, including LOTO procedures, with a strong focus on quality, reliability, and continuous improvement.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Industrial Automation, Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in beverage, food manufacturing, chemical manufacturing, or high-speed packaging environments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled manufacturing, filling, packaging, and material handling equipment
  • Diagnose automation, electrical, and control system issues across motors, drives, sensors, relays, VFDs, servo motors, and control panels
  • Support PLC program changes, ladder logic troubleshooting, HMI systems, industrial networking, and communications
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to improve uptime, equipment reliability, MTTR, production efficiency, and OEE
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical drawings, and ladder logic
  • Maintain and support beverage manufacturing equipment including conveyors, fillers, cappers, labellers, palletizers, robotics, CIP systems, compressors, pumps, and mixing/blending systems
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns, support startups, commissioning, and line changeovers, and help minimize production downtime
  • Install, maintain, and calibrate industrial electrical components, instrumentation, safety circuits, interlocks, and process controls
  • Partner with maintenance, engineering, and production teams on process improvements, equipment upgrades, and reliability initiatives
  • Document repairs, modifications, and maintenance activity in CMMS systems while following LOTO, safety, and quality standards
