About The Position

This position reports to the Maintenance/Construction Supervisor III and is responsible for performing preventative and routine corrective maintenance tasks at a Correctional Institution. The role ensures that assigned systems, equipment, and the facility are maintained in a safe and efficient manner. This position performs a variety of semi-skilled trades and at least two mechanical trades, or a combination of mechanical and higher-level building trades performed fully at the journey level.

Requirements

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two (2) years of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas.
Or An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of the methods, practices, tools and materials used in the general maintenance and repair of buildings, equipment, and machinery.
May require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations Part 82, Subpart F.

Responsibilities

Operating, troubleshooting, repairing, and completing maintenance on assigned systems and equipment.
Performing special repairs and assignments received by work orders from authorized personnel.
Exercising initiative and judgment in the application of various technical trade skills to a variety of maintenance, repair, and/or construction problems and in determining the extent of repair or replacement work to be done.
Performing scheduled maintenance functions as required and outlined in the preventative maintenance plans.
Training and/or supervising the work of semi-skilled, unskilled, or skilled workers (including offenders) to assist in the completion of job assignments.
