Maintenance/Construction Tech III (Plumber) - Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center
About The Position
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is currently recruiting for a full-time Maintenance/Construction Tech III (Plumber) at the Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center (BMNTC). BMNTC is a specialized long-term care facility serving adults with chronic and complex medical conditions that co-exist with neurodevelopmental or neurocognitive disorders, often related to a diagnosis of severe and persistent mental illness or intellectual disability. The health and physical status of these residents require 24-hour supervision, daily nursing care, and assistance with activities of daily living. The facility is committed to providing individualized compassionate care delivered by highly skilled staff.
Requirements
- High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two (2) years of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- May require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations Part 82, Subpart F.
Responsibilities
- General plumbing maintenance and repair
- Installation of ADA-compliant bathroom fixtures
- Installation and repair of water, sewer, and steam lines
- Working from written work orders, instruction manuals, blueprints, sketches, and oral instructions with precision and accuracy
- Compliance with state, federal, and local codes as applicable
- Miscellaneous mechanical duties
- Safeguarding residents, staff, and visitors at all times
