About The Position

The Maintenance Clerk is responsible for maintaining parts inventory and stock levels, implementing Kanban systems, and working with the maintenance team to obtain parts and supplies. This role involves picking up and delivering parts from local suppliers, ensuring the accuracy of maintenance express parts inventory, and entering new parts into the system. The clerk will also review upcoming preventive maintenance activities to ensure parts and fluids are available.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to read and write English at a level required for company documents, computer system entries, and technical instructions.
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts, including fractions and decimals.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and ability to operate a vehicle.
  • At least six months of work experience in a machine shop environment or equivalent skills and knowledge.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Proficiency in MRP systems.
  • Proficiency in CMMS systems.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Hand and finger dexterity to operate a mouse and computer keyboard.
  • Ability to reach, bend, stretch, kneel, and stoop while handling parts.
  • Ability to stand, sit, and drive for periods longer than 15 minutes.
  • Mental focus to locate and obtain parts and supplies.
  • Ability to organize work efficiently.
  • Close attention to detail and moderate visual concentration for extended periods.
  • Ability to read precision instruments.
  • Close and distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Requisitions parts and supplies for the maintenance department under supervision.
  • Sources parts through established and new suppliers.
  • Coordinates with Purchasing to add new suppliers and obtain purchase orders.
  • Maintains parts inventory and performs cycle counts to ensure accuracy.
  • Provides contractor escort services and coordinates EHS and ITAR documentation.
  • Reviews part requests and monitors inventory for low or out-of-stock items.
  • Communicates with electricians or mechanics regarding part specifications.
  • Confirms prework kit parts availability for upcoming preventive maintenance.
  • Contacts suppliers for quotes and pricing.
  • Enters purchase requisitions into the system and tracks requests.
  • Verifies deliveries and monitors backordered items.
  • Maintains a satisfactory driving record to operate company vehicles for parts pickup and delivery.
  • Establishes Kanban systems for spare parts.
  • Conducts cycle counts and adjusts on-hand inventory.
  • Meets with management to determine minimum and maximum stock levels.
  • Analyzes parts usage and coordinates annual review of obsolete inventory.
  • Maintains a clean work area and disposes of waste appropriately.
  • Updates work activities in the maintenance computerized management system.
  • Assists with ordering parts and services for machine and asset repair.
  • Coordinates with contractors and city officials for repairs.
  • Maintains inventory of machine parts and supplies.
  • Communicates issues or concerns regarding parts, contractors, materials, availability, schedules, sourcing, ordering, and delivery.
  • Maintains good housekeeping and follows safety requirements.
  • Wears appropriate personal protective equipment and clothing.
