About The Position

The Maintenance Associate is responsible for ensuring the safety, functionality, and cleanliness of the school campus through skilled maintenance and repair work. This individual plays a vital role in supporting a safe and welcoming environment for students, faculty, and visitors. The Maintenance Associate performs routine and emergency repairs, monitors systems and facilities, follows safety protocols, and collaborates with the custodial and operations team to maintain the physical integrity of the school.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in a similar role.
  • Working knowledge of building equipment and basic maintenance skills.
  • Understanding safety protocols and disposal of hazardous waste items.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb, bend, kneel, twist, push, pull continuously throughout day.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must pass a DOV assigned post offer physical exam.

  • Plumbing or electric license preferred

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates proficiency in performing general maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC support.
  • Completes all assigned repairs, preventative maintenance, and work orders with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Conducts regular facility inspections to identify maintenance issues and resolve them proactively.
  • Takes initiative in identifying potential problems and completing necessary repairs before they escalate.
  • Manages daily schedule effectively to ensure all assigned work is completed according to timelines.
  • Maintains working knowledge of tools, techniques, and materials required for various maintenance tasks.
  • Inventories, stores, and uses supplies and materials efficiently and responsibly.
  • Properly uses, maintains, and secures school tools, vehicles, and equipment.
  • Follows established safety procedures and uses appropriate protective equipment while performing maintenance duties.
  • Supports emergency preparedness by helping maintain emergency systems and equipment.
  • Assists with campus security by locking doors, monitoring access points, and reporting concerns.
  • Ensures that maintenance activities do not pose hazards to students, staff, or visitors.
  • Supports campus operations during special events, emergency drills, and crisis situations.
  • Reports security issues or suspicious activities immediately to the appropriate personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned.
