About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to maintain the grounds, facility, and equipment in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, and our established policies and procedures. This role ensures a successful maintenance program is maintained at all times.

Requirements

  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and accept constructive criticism.
  • Must be able to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
  • Must be able to work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and potentially hostile people within the facility.
  • Must be able to speak, write, and understand English in a manner that is sufficient for effective communication with supervisors, employees, residents, and families.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that maintenance schedules are followed as outlined for respective shift or area.
  • Coordinate daily maintenance services with departments when performing routine assignments in common living areas.
  • Ensure maintenance supplies have been replenished in work areas as necessary and keep supervisor informed of supply needs.
  • Assist others in lifting heavy equipment, supplies, etc., as directed or requested.
  • Receive and follow maintenance schedule/instructions from supervisor and as outlined in established maintenance policies and procedures.
  • Perform routine maintenance on grounds, parking areas, driveways, etc., by cutting, trimming, sweeping, etc., as necessary/directed.
  • Perform routine and unscheduled maintenance and repair on the facility and equipment to include plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, etc., as directed, in accordance with established procedures.
  • Service heating and cooling units/systems, as specified by the manufacturer, and in compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Attend and participate in service training programs to meet state and federal requirements.
  • Follow all established safety procedures and precautions when performing maintenance services.
  • Maintain general plant and facility in good repair, ensuring a safe, clean, and orderly environment.
  • Ensure that work/assignment areas are clean and equipment, tools, supplies, etc., are properly stored before leaving such areas on breaks, end of work day, etc.
  • Dispose of refuse daily in accordance with established sanitation procedures.
