About The Position

The Part-Time Maintenance Assistant supports the Maintenance Director in maintaining and operating the physical aspects of the property. The role helps keep the community safe, functional, clean, and well maintained, including its mechanical equipment, building structures, grounds, and maintenance areas. The assistant also helps with emergency coverage, routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and work-order coordination. Driving duties may be assigned based on business needs, but are incidental to the primary responsibilities.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• At least one year of maintenance-related experience, including working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and HVAC systems.
• Ability to work independently, communicate effectively, multitask, and stay organized.
• Must pass a criminal background screening.
• Must adhere to the company Drug Free Workplace policy.
• If assigned driving responsibilities, must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record in accordance with company standards.

Nice To Haves

• Technical school diploma preferred.
• HVAC and other related maintenance certifications desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Maintenance Director in ensuring the community is covered in the event of an emergency.
• Assist with preventative and routine maintenance programs for mechanical equipment, building structures, and grounds.
• Assist with safe operation of mechanical equipment through routine physical inspections.
• Help maintain maintenance work and storage areas in a safe, organized, and clean manner.
• Help maintain and use the online work-order system, including helping delegate work orders to staff.
• Follow OSHA and company guidelines for approved lockout/tagout procedures and safe working practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• If assigned driving duties, maintain compliance with company fleet-safety standards.
