About The Position

Full-time Maintenance Assistant position for experienced individual; this position includes sharing on-call responsibilities (every fourth week). The role involves maintaining the facility, grounds, and equipment in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to all applicable standards, guidelines, and company policies. Responsibilities include performing routine maintenance and repairs, groundskeeping, documentation, and ensuring a safe and positive environment for residents.

Requirements

  • Experience in plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and mechanical trouble-shooting.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public.
  • Willingness to work harmoniously with others.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Ability to relate to and work with persons who exhibit emotionally instability, confusion, or hostility.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a height of 3 feet and carry such weight a distance of 25 feet.
  • Using a mechanical device, must regularly be able to push, pull, or move weight in excess of 100 pounds a distance of 300 feet.
  • May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain facility, grounds, and equipment in a safe efficient manner in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local standards, and established guidelines, regulations, and company policies and procedures.
  • Receive and follow maintenance schedule and instructions from supervisor and as established in policies and procedures.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repair on the facility and equipment to include plumbing, plastering, painting, electrical, carpentry, mechanical and other tasks as necessary.
  • Perform routine maintenance on grounds, parking areas, driveways, etc. by cutting, trimming, sweeping, and removing snow as needed.
  • Complete all documentation accurately and on appropriate forms.
  • Report equipment malfunctions or breakdowns as soon as possible.
  • Follow preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Keep work areas free from hazardous conditions to assure all established safety rules are followed at all times.
  • Ensure equipment, tools, supplies, etc. are properly stored before leaving work areas.
  • Replace burned out light bulbs and perform cleaning duties when necessary.
  • Follow established ergonomic policies for lifting, repetitive tasks, and the use of equipment.
  • Comply with infection control procedures.
  • Resolve resident concerns and complaints, reporting those that cannot be resolved to your supervisor.
  • Respond in a timely manner to communications from all sources (email, voicemail, written, and verbal).
  • Create an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the facility.
  • Represent the organization in a positive manner, communicating the mission, ethics, and goals of United Church of Christ Homes.
