About The Position

Derby Health & Rehab is seeking a dependable and motivated Part-Time Maintenance Assistant to join their team. This role is crucial for ensuring the facility remains safe, clean, and operating efficiently, making a meaningful impact on the lives of residents and staff. The Maintenance Assistant will assist with the daily maintenance, repair, and upkeep of the facility, ensuring it is a safe, comfortable, and attractive environment for residents, visitors, and team members. The position emphasizes hands-on work, problem-solving, and contributing to a positive environment. A significant aspect of the role involves enhancing the facility's appearance through routine maintenance projects, including drywall repair, patching, texture matching, and interior painting.

Requirements

  • Ability to prepare, repair, patch, texture, and paint walls, ceilings, and other interior surfaces while maintaining a professional appearance throughout the facility.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building repairs.
  • Ability to safely operate maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous maintenance, handyman, facilities, or building maintenance experience preferred.
  • Painting experience is highly recommended.
  • Candidates with experience in drywall repair, drywall patching, texture matching, and interior painting are strongly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with general maintenance and repair projects throughout Derby Health & Rehab.
  • Perform routine inspections of facility equipment and systems.
  • Help maintain resident rooms, common areas, offices, and outdoor grounds.
  • Complete minor plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, and repair tasks.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from residents and staff.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance programs to ensure equipment operates efficiently.
  • Maintain facility safety standards and comply with all regulatory requirements.
  • Help keep Derby Health & Rehab clean, safe, and well-maintained at all times.
  • Assist with snow removal, grounds maintenance, and seasonal projects as needed.
  • Move furniture, equipment, and supplies as required.
  • Report maintenance concerns and safety hazards to the Maintenance Director or Administrator.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness and facility safety procedures.
