About The Position

RRD is a leading global provider of marketing, packaging, print, and supply chain solutions. This role requires a good understanding of general maintenance procedures and the proper use of tools in a manufacturing setting. The Maintenance Assistant will be responsible for completing minor repairs, performing basic plumbing and cleaning duties, inspecting control panels, and managing maintenance supplies. Computer experience and the ability to read and interpret technical documents are also necessary. The role involves working independently or as part of a team and may require working any shift, weekends, and overtime. Additionally, the position includes tasks related to inventory management, such as pulling or replenishing supplies, investigating discrepancies, and assisting with chemical inventory. Requirements

  • Good understanding of general maintenance procedures.
  • Understand the application and proper uses for a variety of solutions and use of general tools in a manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to understand simple oral or written instructions as well as information signs or other instructional devices.
  • Proficient in the operation of powered light industrial equipment/tools.
  • Computer experience and knowledge.
  • Sound knowledge of basic plumbing, carpentry, and electrical wiring.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, procedures, manuals, schematics and blueprints.
  • Proven general maintenance experience.
  • The ability to safely operate hand and power tools as well as cleaning equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal instructions.
  • Must be able to communicate with vendors, suppliers and/or internal support personnel by providing necessary, accurate and detailed information.

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • 3 years or more relevant experience required.
  • Requires knowledge of general administrative and manufacturing operations procedures and knowledge of job specific processes key to successfully execute and complete the duties of the job.

  • Basic organizational skills sufficient to accomplish work by established deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to safely operate Powered Industrial Vehicles, preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of required information systems, including materials tracking systems, storage and retrieval systems, inventory control systems and applicable reporting systems which may include spreadsheets, databases and other materials receipt and usage systems.

Responsibilities

  • Completing minor repair work, which includes repairing doors, locks, door frames and handles as well as replacing light bulbs, sockets, switches, and window glass.
  • Performing basic plumbing tasks, which includes unclogging drains as well as fixing leaking faucets and toilets.
  • Performing regular cleaning duties, which includes sweeping, dusting, mopping, and vacuuming.
  • Inspecting control panels and electrical wiring to detect any issues that require immediate attention.
  • Taking inventory of maintenance supplies and notifying the Supervisor of low or depleted supplies.
  • Promptly responding to requests for emergency repairs and clean-ups.
  • Ensuring that all maintenance equipment is in good working order.
  • Pull or replenish inventory and production supplies for various departments to meet production requirements.
  • Perform manual and clerical duties related to the receipt of materials and supplies via freight or third-party LTL carrier.
  • Investigate and correct inventory discrepancies.
  • Work with production staff to perform periodic review of inventory stock, recording quantity, type, and value of materials on hand.
  • Maintain necessary files and documentation.
  • May ensure shipment and delivery time schedules are maintained.
  • Assist with maintaining chemical inventory and storage.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
