About The Position

The Maintenance Assistant supports the maintenance team in keeping healthcare facilities operating safely and smoothly. The role includes inspecting, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing equipment and infrastructure, and responding to routine and emergency facility needs. The Maintenance Assistant works with maintenance professionals and other departments to address issues promptly, minimize disruptions to healthcare services, and maintain a safe, functional environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols and healthcare regulations are important.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of maintenance procedures and safety protocols.
• Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Good physical condition to perform manual labor and lift moderate weights.
• Strong communication skills to understand and follow instructions.
• Technical, problem-solving, communication, attention-to-detail, and time-management skills.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in a maintenance role within a healthcare or similar environment.
• Certification in basic electrical, plumbing, or HVAC maintenance.
• Familiarity with healthcare facility regulations and safety standards.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints.
• First aid and CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist with inspecting, maintaining, and repairing building systems, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general facility infrastructure.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies to minimize disruption to healthcare operations.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance to identify and resolve potential issues before they escalate.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and repairs.
• Coordinate repairs and facility upgrades with the maintenance team and other departments while adhering to safety and regulatory standards.
