About The Position

Distinctive Living is seeking a full-time Maintenance Assistant/Janitorial professional for our Maumee Pointe Assisted Living Location. The Maintenance Assistant/Janitorial role involves performing general operating maintenance, service, and repair of the interior and exterior of the assigned community, adhering to all relevant standards and regulations, along with light common area cleaning.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-3 years of related experience and/or training.
  • Knowledge of building equipment, building codes, HVAC, plumbing, electrical in healthcare facilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to communicate verbally in person and over the phone.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on HVAC, elevator, fire and sprinkler equipment, generator, landscape, kitchen equipment, and emergency pull cord equipment.
  • Performs general maintenance projects, including installations and repairs involving plumbing and electrical equipment, carpentry work, painting, and equipment repair.
  • Responds to resident maintenance requests for repairs in their rooms, including plumbing, electrical, and heating, and replacing light bulbs.
  • Repairs and maintains vacated rooms in a timely manner, including painting walls and cleaning carpets.
  • Ensures that walls, floor coverings, doors, and woodwork in the common areas of the community are properly maintained.
  • Maintains positive communication with local fire marshal, building inspector, state elevator inspector, and any other jurisdictions governing the community.
  • Repairs walls, floor coverings, doors, and woodwork in the common areas of the community.
  • Assesses plumbing and electrical problems within the community and determines the best course of action to correct the problem, working within legal scope of local and state codes.
  • Documents safety issues and physical plant deficiencies related to local, county, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Reviews safety data sheets (SDS) for potential exposure to hazardous chemicals and takes necessary precautions.
  • Assesses property damage and files property damage claims in accordance with company policy.
  • Responds appropriately to management and/or community emergencies by assisting as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
