About The Position

This is a temp-to-hire position located in Walhalla, SC working 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM. The Maintenance Apprentice program consists of two years of technical training, including both classroom and hands-on training, primarily focused on performing Preventative Maintenance (PMs) on Furnaces in the Heat Treat department. The company will cover the cost of classes, and apprentices will be paid for classroom training time that falls within normal work hours. Some classes may be held outside of normal work hours. Upon successful completion of the program, the employee's shift assignment will be determined by departmental needs. The program requires a two-year commitment, and upon completion, the employee is expected to remain with the company for an additional two years, or reimburse all training expenses.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Acceptable Mechanical Aptitude assessment scores.
• Ability to work shifts required by business needs.
• Must be able to be fit tested and pass respirator training.
• Must be able to pass PIT exam to become licensed in forklift and scissor lift.
• Two-year commitment to the apprentice program.
• Upon successful completion, a commitment to stay with the company for an additional two years.

Nice To Haves

• Some mechanical/electrical aptitude, prefer prior experience or education.

Responsibilities

• Attend courses at Tri County Technical College and complete hands-on training to become a full-time maintenance technician.
• Repair and maintain machinery and equipment to industrial standards.
• Perform Preventative Maintenance (PMs) on Furnaces.
• Complete mechanical and electrical courses.
• Work in tight spaces inside of Furnaces.
• Be fit tested and pass respirator training.
• Pass PIT exam to become licensed in forklift and scissor lift.
