About The Position

The Maintenance Manager in the Accommodation and Hospitality industry is responsible for overseeing all maintenance operations to ensure the safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal of the facility. This role involves managing a team of maintenance technicians and coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance activities to minimize downtime and enhance guest satisfaction. The Maintenance Manager will develop and implement maintenance schedules, manage budgets, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. They will also collaborate closely with other departments to support operational needs and contribute to the overall guest experience. Ultimately, this position is critical in maintaining the infrastructure and equipment that uphold the quality standards of the establishment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in maintenance, electrical, HVAC, or related fields is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in maintenance management or a supervisory role within the accommodation or food services industry.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general facility maintenance.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance standards applicable to accommodation and food service facilities.
  • Proven ability to manage teams, schedules, and budgets effectively.
  • The Maintenance Manager utilizes technical skills daily to diagnose and resolve complex maintenance issues across electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and structural systems.
  • Leadership and communication skills are essential for effectively managing the maintenance team, coordinating with other departments, and ensuring clear reporting to senior management.
  • Organizational skills are critical for scheduling preventive maintenance, managing budgets, and maintaining compliance documentation.
  • Problem-solving abilities enable the manager to quickly address unexpected equipment failures or safety concerns, minimizing operational disruptions.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Certification in facilities management or maintenance (e.g., Certified Facility Manager, HVAC certification).
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and inventory control software.
  • Demonstrated experience in energy management and sustainability initiatives.
  • Strong project management skills with experience overseeing renovation or upgrade projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the maintenance team, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor preventive maintenance programs to reduce equipment failures and extend asset life.
  • Coordinate and oversee repair work, ensuring timely resolution of maintenance issues with minimal disruption to operations.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, health, and environmental regulations and standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs for reporting and auditing purposes.
  • Collaborate with other departments to schedule maintenance activities that align with operational requirements.
  • Evaluate and recommend upgrades or replacements of equipment and facilities to improve efficiency and guest satisfaction.
