Mainline Excavator (Underground Water and Sewer)
About The Position
Sureway Construction is one of Alberta’s largest heavy construction contractors, with over 50 years’ experience, involved in civil earthworks and grading, utilities and offsite, mine operation and aggregate extraction. This is a full-time, seasonal position for a Mainline Excavator Operator in the Water & Sewer Division, located in the Edmonton and Surrounding Areas. The role involves working with ground personnel in the excavation and installation of pipe, ensuring proper depth and grade, and operating the excavator safely in close proximity to others. Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience as a Mainline Excavator operator.
- Experience in water/sewer installations, subdivision servicing, roadway construction and urban renewal projects.
- Personal Reliable Vehicle
- CSA approved steel toed boots with 6” ankle support
- Drug and alcohol testing (swab-based test)
- Successful completion of Company Orientation and site-specific orientation
Responsibilities
- Work with ground personnel in the excavation and installation process of laying pipe on line and grade.
- Ensure trench is excavated to the proper depth/grade.
- Be aware of proper rigging of pipe, manhole barrels, etc. and ensure safe work procedures are followed during the lowering of materials into the excavation.
- Operate excavator in close proximity to ground personnel and other equipment.
- Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
