About The Position
Hansen Talent Group is seeking a Operations Programmer with in-depth experience supporting Mainframe COBOL applications, operational tools, and data querying. This is a hybrid position in Columbia, SC. The Mainframe Operations Programmer will be responsible for supporting Mainframe tools, utilities, and COBOL applications. Additionally, they will actively participate in modernization initiatives to improve the mainframe production and improve workflows.

Responsibilities
- Provide daily support to the COBOL application development team, supporting and troubleshooting production issues and coding workflows.
- Test and debug as needed.
- Support mainframe tools and utilities using JCL to improve application and operational workflows as well as identify potential loopholes to improve development processes.
- Collaborate with COBOL application development, Mainframe system programmers, and client stakeholders to define business requirements and technical specifications.
- Provide recommendations and present business impact of workflow changes.
- Utilizing SyncSort, filter data per client needs to present reports that best assist in decision making and support security activities.
- Analyze system security, administering permissions to applications and workflows as needed.
- Collaborating with cyber teams for approvals.
- Support coding changes based on implementation and project needs.
- Assist in special projects such as modernization and new tool implementations.
