About The Position

This is a high-visibility production support and engineering role focused on enterprise batch workload automation across mainframe and hybrid environments. The role involves designing, maintaining, and supporting enterprise batch scheduling environments on IBM z/OS and hybrid distributed platforms. It requires administering workload automation tools, building and managing complex job streams, calendars, dependencies, and end-to-end batch workflows. The engineer will ensure reliable execution of high-volume batch processing, troubleshoot job failures, support JCL-based job execution, and monitor workload execution. Additionally, the role includes managing integrated file transfers, supporting disaster recovery, partnering with various technical teams, optimizing batch windows, and contributing to automation and modernization initiatives.

Requirements

  • Enterprise workload automation tools: Control-M, TWS/IWS, CA7, ESP, OPC, Zeke, Tivoli Scheduler
  • Strong IBM z/OS mainframe batch processing knowledge
  • JCL proficiency and batch job execution expertise
  • Experience with workload monitoring tools (e.g., OMEGAMON)
  • File transfer systems: Connect:Direct, FTP/SFTP, NDM
  • Strong troubleshooting in production batch and scheduling environments
  • Understanding of DR scheduling and enterprise resilience practices
  • Experience in hybrid environments (mainframe + distributed Linux/Unix/cloud)
  • Strong coordination and communication across technical and operations teams
  • 5+ years in mainframe job scheduling, workload automation, or batch operations engineering
  • Experience in large-scale enterprise environments (banking, insurance, healthcare, government, logistics preferred)
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.

Responsibilities

  • Design, maintain, and support enterprise batch scheduling environments on IBM z/OS and hybrid distributed platforms
  • Administer workload automation tools including Control-M, IBM Workload Scheduler (TWS/IWS), CA7, ESP, OPC, Zeke, Tivoli Scheduler
  • Build and manage complex job streams, calendars, dependencies, and end-to-end batch workflows
  • Ensure reliable execution of high-volume batch processing across mainframe, Linux/Unix, and cloud systems
  • Troubleshoot job failures, abends, scheduling conflicts, and dependency breakdowns in production
  • Support JCL-based job execution, dataset processing, and mainframe batch operations
  • Monitor workload execution using tools such as OMEGAMON, Control-M Monitoring, or equivalents
  • Manage integrated file transfers (Connect:Direct, FTP/SFTP, NDM) tied to batch scheduling workflows
  • Support disaster recovery (DR) batch scheduling, testing, and failover execution
  • Partner with application teams, DBAs, systems programmers, and operations teams to ensure workload integrity
  • Optimize batch windows, scheduling performance, and workload balancing
  • Support incident management, on-call rotation, and production bridge calls
  • Contribute to automation and modernization initiatives (DevOps integration, API-based scheduling orchestration)
