About The Position

CTG is seeking a Mainframe Developer for an 8-month remote contract position. This role involves working on enterprise mainframe systems that support retail and supply chain operations. The developer will be responsible for hands-on development, production support, enhancements, and system optimization using technologies like COBOL, DB2, CICS, JCL, and SQL. Requirements

  • Strong experience with COBOL, DB2, CICS, JCL, and SQL
  • Background supporting retail systems and supply chain processes
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot, debug, and optimize mainframe applications
  • Experience working in Agile or similar SDLC environments
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL, and SQL
  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Design and optimize DB2 databases and queries for performance and scalability
  • Provide production support, troubleshoot issues, and implement fixes
  • Participate in code reviews and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Document technical designs, processes, and system changes
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless system integration
