About The Position

Kyndryl is looking for a Mainframe DB2 Replication Engineer to design, build, manage, and modernize mission-critical technology systems. The role focuses on the design, installation, configuration, and maintenance of DB2 replication solutions across mainframe and distributed platforms. The engineer will be responsible for building replication pipelines, implementing both unidirectional and bidirectional replication, and ensuring real-time or near-real-time data synchronization. The position involves troubleshooting production incidents, optimizing replication performance to reduce latency, and supporting integration across DB2 z/OS, DB2 LUW, and distributed systems.

Requirements

  • Experience with DB2 for z/OS
  • Experience with ZDIH
  • Experience with MIPS reduction / optimization projects
  • Experience with UNIX system service including installing patch on UNIX
  • Experience with UNIX scripting
  • Experience with RACF
  • Hands-on experience with replication technologies: IBM InfoSphere Data Replication (IIDR) / CDC
  • Knowledge of Q Replication (preferred)
  • Knowledge of replication architecture and data flow design
  • Knowledge of Change Data Capture (CDC) concepts
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in data consistency issues, performance, and replication latency
  • Experience with JCL, TSO/ISPF, SDSF
  • Experience with mainframe batch and online environments

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with MQ / messaging systems
  • Familiarity with ETL and data warehousing platforms
  • Experience with monitoring tools
  • Experience with automation (REXX, Python, scripting)
  • Exposure to cloud or hybrid data architectures
  • Experience in large-scale data migration or modernization programs
  • Experience in real-time data streaming architectures

Responsibilities

  • Design, install, configure, and maintain DB2 replication solutions across mainframe and distributed platforms
  • Build and manage source-to-target replication pipelines
  • Configure replication components including capture processes, apply processes, and control servers
  • Implement unidirectional and bidirectional replication setups
  • Implement real-time and near-real-time data synchronization solutions
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data inconsistencies, replication failures, queue backlogs, and network interruptions
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
  • Provide L2/L3 support for production incidents
  • Tune replication processes to reduce latency, optimize resource utilization, and minimize impact on source systems
  • Optimize data capture efficiency, apply performance, and network usage
  • Support integration across DB2 z/OS, DB2 LUW systems, distributed databases, message queues, and ETL platforms
  • Work closely with DBAs, application teams, and data engineering and BI teams

Benefits

  • Employee learning programs
  • Access to certifications (Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Skillsoft, etc.)
  • Company-wide volunteering and giving platform
