About The Position

Application Architect II on the Mainframe side. This role involves working with the client's Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and requires an ideal candidate who understands business processes within the Steel Manufacturing sector. The position is located in the N-W Indiana area, requiring the candidate to be in the office a couple of times a month and within drivable distance. The work environment is an office setting, not around dangerous equipment. The role is a day shift position with an occasional on-call schedule. The architect must be skilled in the mainframe environment, including COBOL and DB2, and possess experience in multiple system environments. Responsibilities include designing, developing, and testing applications, combining multiple technologies to provide alternative physical solutions, and performing analysis of business models, logical specifications, and user requirements to design solutions. The architect will be responsible for both application development and the application environment, understanding various tools and technologies and their appropriate usage. Responsibilities cover all application components and environments, including front, back, and middle tiers. This role may also involve leading tool evaluation efforts, including defining criteria, identifying tools, and conducting evaluations. Experience working on various platforms such as mainframes, minis, and micros is expected. The work may also involve interacting with and managing product vendors/suppliers.
