About The Position

The Mainframe Architect will work with the client's Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and is ideal for someone who understands business processes on the Steel Manufacturing side. This role is located in the N-W Indiana area, requiring the candidate to be in the office a couple of times a month and within drivable distance. The work environment is an office setting, not around dangerous equipment. The position is day shift with a potential for an on-call schedule.

Requirements

• Skilled in the mainframe environment - COBOL, DB2, etc.
• Experience in multiple system environments.
• Experienced in designing, developing, and testing applications.
• Ability to combine multiple technologies to provide alternative physical solutions.
• Must understand business processes on the Steel Mfg side.
• Must be in drivable distance to N-W Indiana area.

Responsibilities

• Perform analysis of business models, logical specifications, and/or user requirements to design solutions.
• Responsible for application development as well as the application environment.
• Understand various types of tools and technologies on the market and their appropriate usage.
• Responsibilities extend to all components of an application and application environment including front, back, and middle tiers where applicable.
• Lead a tool evaluation effort, including the definition of evaluation criteria, identification of tools to be evaluated, and the actual evaluation.
• Work may involve interacting with and managing product vendors/suppliers.
