About The Position

Drives the design, development, and maintenance of mainframe applications aligned with business objectives, enterprise architecture, and technology strategy. Applies strong understanding of business processes and technical architecture to deliver high-quality, scalable, and secure solutions. Ensures code and system configurations meet BMO standards for security, logging, performance, and resiliency. Evaluates technology choices, assesses impacts across systems and processes, and contributes to an efficient and sustainable application ecosystem. Focuses on delivering reliable, defect-free solutions while continuously improving systems and practices.

Requirements

Typically 3–5 years of mainframe development experience or equivalent education.
Strong experience with COBOL, CICS, PL/1, JCL, DB2, and VSAM.
Familiarity with EASYTRIEVE and FOCUS
Experience with Jira, Confluence, z/OS, and ServiceNow.
Strong knowledge of software development practices, architecture, and enterprise ecosystems
Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills
Effective communication and stakeholder management
Ability to work independently on complex initiatives
Strong collaboration and influencing skills
Data-driven decision making

Nice To Haves

Exposure to AI technologies and mainframe modernization is a strong asset.
Experience working with CSF Designer is considered an advantage, but not mandatory.
