About The Position

This position is responsible for managing mail, shipping, and supply room operations. The Mailroom/Supply Clerk will receive, prepare, sort, and distribute mail, including classified packages up to SECRET level. This role involves managing supply levels through inventory control, ordering, and distribution, and maintaining daily shipment logs. The clerk will also operate mail metering equipment and prepare necessary documents and records. The position requires adherence to safety and security regulations, as well as effective communication and customer service skills.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and general computer operation.
  • Ability to communicate with tact and maintain confidentiality.
  • Adequate ability in communicating in spoken conversation – adequate volume speech.
  • Adequate ability in writing/reading/mathematics.
  • Ability to effectively build and maintain positive working relationships with management and peers.
  • Strong organizational, project planning, and management experience with proven analytical and multi-tasking skills.
  • Superior listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret level clearance.
  • Must be authorized for coverage under agency insurance if operating agency vehicle, have good driving record, valid driver’s license, and/or required level of personal auto insurance.
  • Must be able to satisfactorily complete a background check, per company requirements.
  • Ability for conversation, telephone use, and emergency information systems.
  • Ability to be independently mobile on all surfaces and situations.
  • Ability to move safely in the work area.
  • Ability to retrieve items from high and low areas.
  • Ability to perceive size, discrimination, temperature, shapes, and/or textures.
  • Physical stamina to work at least 8 hours per day.
  • Physically able to lift boxes and packages weighing up to 70 pounds using proper equipment and lifting techniques.

  • Must have good organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Receives, prepares, sorts, and distributes mail, including classified packages up to SECRET level.
  • Manages mail, shipping, and supply room operations.
  • Receives and signs for deliveries, notifying appropriate personnel.
  • Travels to multiple sites in the local vicinity to pick up and deliver mail and packages.
  • Operates a government vehicle.
  • Manages supply levels through inventory control, ordering, and distribution.
  • Prepares documents and keeps records.
  • Performs mailroom operations in an effective, efficient, and safe manner.
  • Maintains daily incoming and outgoing shipment logs.
  • Supports the PEO Aviation supply room by receiving supplies, verifying orders, managing supply levels, conducting inventory, and preparing orders for approval.
  • Distributes supplies to various locations as requested.
  • Operates mail metering equipment.
  • Arrives on time and ready to work assigned schedule.
  • Provides a high level of customer service.
  • Takes direction, interacts, and maintains open communication with supervisor/lead.
  • Supports the company vision, values, and quality program controls.
