About The Position

Directly supervise the mailroom clerk. Responsible for performing postal duties in the mailroom requiring familiarity with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and customer directives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • two (2) years related mailroom experience required
  • US Citizenship or Lawful US Permanent Resident required.
  • Must successfully complete required preservice training.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior supervisory experience highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the processing of all incoming and outgoing detainee correspondence, prepare forms and maintain records and files related to detainee correspondence.
  • Sort, open, inspect and scan detainee correspondence.
  • Maintain related records.
  • Deliver detainee mail.
  • Act as authorized courier for receipt of registered, special delivery or other mails received for employees and/or detainees.
  • Sort departmental mail.
  • Provide information and responses to inquiries regarding routine mailroom procedures.
  • Maintain contact with US Postal Service personnel and private mail carriers (i.e. UPS, Federal Express, etc.).
  • Operate postal equipment and ascertain postage needed.
  • Prepare various forms related to the processing of detainee correspondence and mailroom functions.
  • Deliver outgoing mail each afternoon to the post office.
  • Requires regular pushing and pulling of mail carts.
