About The Position

TDI, a part of Unison (a GE Aerospace Company) located in Dayton, OH, has been a leader in designing and manufacturing turbine-powered start systems for over 40 years and turbine air motors for over 60 years. The company is positioned to introduce the next-gen Air Turbine Starter for the CMF56-7B fleet and also produces Surface Coolers and Bellows for the aerospace industry. This role involves operating multiple machines, understanding coolant mixtures, and maintaining a clean work cell (5S). The Machinist will use various gages (calipers, dial indicators, micrometers, depth gages, bore gages, etc.), pneumatic tools, and hand tools for both performing and inspecting work. Key responsibilities include understanding and utilizing tool data, reviewing and following routers, procedures, and specifications, and applying geometric tolerancing. The individual must fully understand blueprints, read inspection sheets, and produce error-free products through in-process inspections. The position requires working under general direction with minimal coaching in a team environment, performing other assigned duties, and managing programs in the DNC system. This includes changing tooling, identifying and using inserts, and setting up and calibrating inspection devices. Strong attention to detail and compliance with all GE policies are essential, along with providing excellent customer service and working collaboratively. Requirements

  • High school diploma or General education Degree (GED)
  • 6 months of CNC Lathe and CNC Mill Experience OR any technical schooling in Machining with CNC Lathe/Mill experience

  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to define and solve problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

Responsibilities

  • Operate more than one machine at a time
  • Understand coolant percentage mixtures
  • Basic housekeeping of cell (5S)
  • Uses gages (calipers, dial indicators, micrometers, depth gages, bore gages, etc.), pneumatic tools, and hand tools to perform and inspect work
  • Understand and use tool data (offsets, wear, etc.) to insure acceptable parts
  • Review, understand and follow routers, procedures, specification, and other instructions for completeness to perform operations
  • Utilize geometric tolerancing
  • Fully understands blueprints
  • Read and understand inspection sheets
  • Produce error free products through in-process inspections
  • Work under general direction with minimal coaching in a Team environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned
