About The Position

This position is responsible for performing machining operations, routine maintenance, and ensuring quality and safety standards are met. The Machinist will work with conventional machine tools and various metal forming tools, verifying part dimensions and maintaining a clean work area. The role requires a strong understanding of technical drawings, mechanical knowledge, and a commitment to safety and teamwork.

Requirements

One-to-Two (1-2) Years Demonstrated Machinist Experience
Dependability to consistently be at work and on time, with the ability to work a flexible 40+ hour schedule as required
Fundamental listening, verbal, and written communication skills to accurately follow directions
Functional mechanical knowledge to determine various tooling machine functions
Functional mathematical ability, including knowledge of fractions and decimals, to perform calculations and measurements using a tape measure and/or micrometers
Spatial and form perception, along with finger and manual dexterity, to interpret blueprints, verify machine part dimensions, and perform machining operations
Ability to follow safety procedures and guidelines when handling raw steel materials, finished steel products, machinery, and equipment
Team-oriented mindset with a commitment to quality assurance and safety while handling raw steel materials, finished steel products, and performing machining operations
Ability to stand and/or bend repetitively during normal job duties
Effective communication skills to interact with management, co-workers, and outside vendors

Nice To Haves

High School/GED Preferred
Tech/Vo Tech Training Certificate
Machining or Tool and Die Tech Certificate Preferred

Responsibilities

Conduct a safety evaluation of the work area prior to performing machinist actions.
Perform routine maintenance and machine setup actions as required throughout all phases of production.
Read/interpret technical drawings or prints for machining specifications.
Perform machine-tooling actions on conventional machine tools including, but not limited to, lathes, shapers, planers, and milling machines.
Perform machine tooling actions on various metal forming tools including grinders, saws, drilling and boring machines.
Verify dimensions of parts machined using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments.
Perform machine(s), workstation, and surrounding area cleanup/housekeeping tasks, as required.
