About The Position

SMS group is an industrial equipment manufacturer for the steel industry. We design, build, and service equipment for steel plants across the globe with a strong technical services/machine shop network in North America. This is a steady 2nd Shift position for a CNC/Manual Machinist.

Requirements

1+ years of machining experience, manual and CNC.
Vertical and Horizontal Lathe experience needed.
Good math skills.
Ability to work with others and follow directions.
Excellent attendance.
Be aware of surrounds and safety of others.
Report any and all unsafe conditions immediately.
Knows/understands hazard of the job assignment before starting.
Basic understanding of safety policies and procedures.

Nice To Haves

Experience with using measuring devices such as: Tape Measure, Inside/Outside Mics, Calipers, Depth Mics.
Ability to operate a fork truck.
Ability to operate a crane safely.
Lift equipment safely.
Knowing where disconnect switches are.
Perform inspection of crane before use.
Inspect straps and chains before use.
Checking any and all rigging before performing lift.

Responsibilities

Perform set-ups and operations on various machines such as: CNC Horizontal Mills (Heidenhain Control), CNC Vertical Mills (Fanuc Control), CNC Vertical Lathe (Siemens Control), CNC Horizontal Lathe (Siemens Control), CNC Horizontal Lathe (Fanuc Control), Manual Vertical Mill (Bridgeport), Manual Vertical Lathe (6 Foot), Manual Horizontal Mill (Supermill), Horizontal Lathe (Poreba).
Use measuring devices such as: Tape Measure, Inside/Outside Mics, Calipers, Depth Mics.
Understand and read blueprints.
Perform clean up.
Operate a fork truck (training will be provided on site).
Operate a crane safely (training will be provided on site).
Lift equipment safely.
Know where disconnect switches are.
Perform inspection of crane before use.
Inspect straps and chains before performing a lift.
Check any and all rigging before performing a lift.
