About The Position

The successful candidate will be responsible for the setup and operation of manual and/or CNC machining equipment. This includes the ability to make program edits at the machine for CNC equipment and machining of components to meet print dimensions and tolerances. Accurate parts measurement using tools such as micrometers, calipers, and scales is essential. The role also involves maintaining an organized and safe work environment, driving improvements in safety and efficiency, and accurately completing all associated paperwork and required trainings. The machinist will work on a variety of parts and processes, potentially across multiple machines, and may provide guidance to lower-level employees.

Requirements

  • Typically, 3 – 5 years’ experience doing similar work
  • Understands and buys into a zero-accident safety culture expectation
  • Strong shop math skills including arithmetic, conversion of fractions to decimals, basic trigonometry
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical/production drawings including tolerancing
  • For CNC machines, a strong understanding of G-code and / or conversational programming
  • Knowledge of fixturing and safe / effective work holding

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with cast materials
  • Experience with basic rigging and use of overhead cranes
  • Firm understanding of turning and milling insert geometries and grades
  • Understanding of basic cut conditions including appropriate feeds, speeds and depths of cut
  • Previous experience machining stainless alloys

  • Help to drive improvements in the work center that will lead to increases in safety and efficiency
  • Accurately completing all paperwork associated with tasks being performed
  • Keeping up to date with all required trainings
  • Working on a variety of parts and processes and may work across multiple machines
  • Resolve most problems and questions within a defined set of parameters
  • May provide guidance to lower-level employees
