About The Position

Chromalloy Carson City is seeking a skilled Machinist to join its aerospace manufacturing team. The role sets up and operates CNC and manual machine tools to manufacture and repair critical aerospace components. It requires precision, attention to detail, craftsmanship, and the ability to troubleshoot machining challenges and work independently in a fast-paced environment. The work supports aviation safety and reliability by helping manufacture and repair components used throughout the global aviation industry. The position is primarily Monday through Friday, with schedule flexibility required. Days and hours may vary based on business needs, including weekends. The scheduled hours are 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM, and the shift differential is $2–$4 per hour based on assigned workdays. A $1,000 sign-on bonus is offered.

Requirements

Machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
Experience operating CNC and manual machine tools.
Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T.
Proficiency using precision measuring and inspection equipment.
Strong math, mechanical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently while maintaining high quality standards.
Reliable, detail-oriented, and safety-focused.
Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude.

Nice To Haves

Aerospace manufacturing or component repair experience.
Experience with close-tolerance machining.
CNC program editing experience.
Experience with horizontal boring mills, vertical lathes, or engine lathes.
Trade school, technical training, apprenticeship, or machining certifications.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC and manual machining equipment, including lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses.
Manufacture and repair precision aerospace components to tight tolerances.
Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, technical drawings, and specifications.
Set up tooling, fixtures, and materials for machining operations.
Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, pi tapes, and other precision measuring tools.
Change tooling and adjust machine feeds and speeds as needed.
Perform complex machine setups with minimal supervision.
Complete required inspection and production documentation.
Perform routine machine maintenance and safely operate overhead cranes.
Troubleshoot machining issues and support process improvements.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
