Machinist (1st Shift)
About The Position
S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to join our Metal Finishing Operations department as a Machinist. In this role, you will be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team. You will primarily be responsible for operating automated and manual machines as part of a sheet metal processing cell, including automated punching, forming, and laser cutting machines, as well as manual and automated hydraulic press brakes. You will be working in a production environment where all jobs have a measured standard production rate and you will be held accountable for the quality of your work. Most tasks require good hand/eye coordination and a full range of motion of both hands and arms on a regular and repetitive basis.
Requirements
- High School diploma / GED
- 1 year of machinist and manufacturing experience a plus
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Ability to use or learn how to use measuring equipment such as micrometers, dial calipers, protractors and tape measures.
- Ability to learn machine controls and programs
Nice To Haves
- Experience with set-up and operation of computer-controlled punching, cutting, forming machines, or press brakes
Responsibilities
- Use of computer-controlled sheet metal processing machines to produce of high-quality parts by reading and interpreting complex blueprints.
- Using simple material handling equipment and overhead cranes to handle sheet-metal stock ranging from 30 lbs. to 150 lbs.
- Inspecting parts using various measurement tools.
