About The Position

The Machinist is responsible for fabrication and layout on a variety of parts or products involving close tolerances. Must set up and operate all machine shop machines to cut, bend, machine or form parts. This role is responsible for the quality of work performed in the machine shop area and assists the Lead in all functions of the machine shop, including workflow and process improvement. The Machinist is also responsible for keeping machinery and the plant area in good working order, including cleaning and maintenance of machine shop equipment and tools. The position requires adherence to all company policies, procedures, guidelines, and Core Values, as well as the CARE Initiative.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • One-year certificate from college or technical school.
  • Five years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
  • Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
  • Working knowledge to read and interpret prints.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Basic skills in CNC programming.
  • Basic skills in precision hand tools.
