About The Position

Altronic LLC provides innovative engineering and solutions for natural gas-fueled engines and manufactures high quality, high value, and reliable products. With approximately 200 employees, we are dedicated to delivering excellence in our products and services. We are currently searching for a Machinist to join our team in Girard, Ohio. The Machinist is a mid-level skilled trade position responsible for independently setting up and operating manual and CNC machine tools to produce precision parts to engineering specifications. Working with moderate supervision, the Machinist reads and interprets blueprints and technical drawings, selects appropriate tooling, sets machine offsets, and performs quality inspection throughout the production process. This role is a key contributor to shop productivity and quality.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; vocational or technical training in machining preferred
  • Minimum 2–4 years of hands-on machining experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T symbols
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, indicators, gauges)
  • Working knowledge of speeds, feeds, and tooling selection for various materials
  • Basic understanding of CNC operation (G-code familiarity a plus)
  • Demonstrated ability to work with tolerances of ±0.005" or tighter

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CNC turning and/or milling (Fanuc, Haas, Mazak, or similar controls)
  • NIMS (National Institute for Metalworking Skills) certification
  • Experience with first article inspection or SPC processes
  • Knowledge of cutting tool materials and coatings for various workpiece materials

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate manual and/or CNC machine tools including lathes, mills, and drill presses
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T callouts, and work orders to determine machining sequence and tolerances
  • Select and install appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and work-holding devices
  • Set speeds, feeds, depth of cut, and other machine parameters to achieve required specifications
  • Perform in-process and final inspection using precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, and bore gauges as required
  • Identify and correct out-of-tolerance conditions by adjusting machine coordinate and tooling offsets
  • Complete all required production documentation including travelers, inspection records, and nonconformance reports
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and report equipment issues to maintenance or supervisor
  • Maintain a safe, organized work area in compliance with 5S standards and company safety policies
  • Assist in training Machine Operators and provide guidance on basic setup procedures
