About The Position

The Machinist sets up and operates various machining equipment, which may include hoists, steel saws, buffers, threaders, and drilling machines. The role reads blueprints and process sheets, selects appropriate materials, tooling, and equipment, and makes calculations to check product specifications and tolerances. The Machinist operates and adjusts equipment to produce quality parts while meeting production schedules, verifies quality with measuring tools, loads and unloads materials and products, performs and documents level 1 TPMs, and follows safety guidelines. The position is based at the main location in Knoxville, Iowa, and is a full-time, first-shift role.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to present information effectively in one-on-one situations.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including occasional lifting or moving of up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• 1–3 months of related experience in a manufacturing environment and/or additional related education.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and process sheets and select the proper steel, tooling, and equipment to make products.
• Make calculations as needed to determine whether products meet specifications and tolerances.
• Select and use fixtures when available.
• Select appropriate equipment, tooling, fixtures, and accessories to complete tasks when applicable.
• Operate equipment and adjust machine settings as necessary to produce quality parts while meeting production schedules.
• Use measuring tools to verify quality.
• Load and unload raw materials and completed products, sometimes using an overhead hoist.
• Perform and document level 1 TPMs.
• Follow all safety guidelines and work safely.
