Inspect, service, repair and maintain diesel locomotives. This role involves ensuring compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations, and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA). Responsibilities include inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing malfunctions in diesel engines, air brake equipment, running gear, or locomotive components. The machinist will also fabricate, modify, or design replacement parts for equipment through riveting, bolting, gluing, brazing, or welding, and perform finishing operations on various materials. Periodic service on locomotives and moving locomotives are also key duties, along with miscellaneous activities assigned by management.
