About The Position
Caterpillar’s Mapleton Foundry is hiring a Machinist (Tooling) to set up, operate, and adjust gear machines, rotary head milling machines, and other equipment for precision machining work. The role involves machining details of dies, jigs, fixtures, miscellaneous tooling, repair parts, and prove-design parts, as well as using special equipment and attachments as required. The machinist also operates a special universal grinding machine to precisely grind male and female taper spline and serration gauges. This is a full-time position in Mapleton, Illinois, with second- or third-shift options. Starting pay is $30.67 per hour, with a $1.00 night-shift premium. No relocation is offered. Employment offers are conditioned on successfully completing a drug screen.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of manual machining experience.
- Ability to frequently lift and carry boxes weighing up to 35 pounds.

Responsibilities
- Fabricate, modify, and repair precision tools, molds, and machinery parts used in manufacturing processes.
- Operate machine tools and use blueprints and measuring instruments to meet precise specifications.
- Set up, operate, and adjust gear machines and rotary head milling machines to perform precision machining operations on dies, jigs, fixtures, tooling, repair parts, and prove-design parts.
- Use special equipment and attachments as required.
- Set up and operate a special universal grinding machine to grind male and female taper spline and serration gauges precisely.
