About The Position

Using Mastercam software, the Machinist plans, sets up, and programs operations of the CNC mill and CNC lathe to fabricate parts or tooling as required to meet manufacturing production schedules or prototype requirements. Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, sketches, and diagrams.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Uses hand tools of the trade safely and properly.
  • Advanced ability and skill level to operate CNC mill, lathe, grinder, and other machines.
  • Advanced knowledge, ability, and experience programming CNC machines with Mastercam software.
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to listen and communicate effectively.
  • Advanced computer skills with experience using Mastercam software.
  • Ten (10) years of experience in a job with similar duties.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all Personal Protection Program guidelines.
  • Compliance with all OSHA and MPI Safety Procedures.
  • Read blueprints, drawings, or sketches to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations and tooling requirements.
  • Set (Mastercam software) machine for types of material, tolerances, cutting tools, coolants, lubricants, tool feeds and speed.
  • Program and operate the CNC mill and CNC lathe, using Mastercam software to produce desired tooling or fabrication of material, without system crashes or damage to machine tooling components.
  • Determine specifications for inspection of work using precision measuring and gauging tools, performing inspection before, during, and after machining.
  • Performs welding of steel fabrications.
  • Inspect incoming material and parts for quality conformance.
  • Work with other departments as needed to resolve any engineering or manufacturing related problems.
  • Operate forklift for material transport, upon completion of MPI training.
  • Operate chain hoists and lift tables, upon completion of MPI training.
  • Perform equipment maintenance as required, assuring all machines run and operate properly.
  • Supports MPI lean culture and initiatives by attending and participating in daily lean meetings while supporting efforts to make continuous improvements throughout MPI.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
