About The Position

Machinist Senior Full-time Camarillo, CA, US Exclusive confidential search — details shared with qualified applicants. Become a Key Player as a Machinist Senior You will operate and set up conventional and numerically controlled machining centers to produce precision, regulated components for aerospace and high-precision manufacturing. You will work onsite on 2nd shift (1:45pm - 11:15pm, Mon–Fri), collaborating with production and quality teams to meet tight tolerances and improve process efficiency.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years of related machining experience, including setup and operation of CNC and manual machines.
  • Experience operating CNC lathes; hands-on setup capability and ability to work with limited guidance in a team environment.
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints, specifications, and verbal instructions; familiarity with machine shop mathematics (may include trigonometry).
  • Experience using inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, CMM if applicable) and applying statistical process control (SPC).
  • Familiarity with GD&T and tight tolerance machining common in aerospace environments.
  • Willingness to work 2nd shift and be open to overtime or shift work if production requires it.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with MAZAK machine controls and Y-axis machining (identified as a significant plus).
  • Experience with CAM software (Mastercam, NX, Fusion 360, CATIA) or G-code programming/editing.
  • Prior experience in aerospace-regulated manufacturing environments (AS9100, FAI/AS9102).

Responsibilities

  • Set up and run multiple production machines, including CNC lathes and manual machines, to produce parts to blueprint specifications.
  • Perform machine operations (cutting, shaping, deburring, forming, drilling, reaming) and make machine adjustments as needed.
  • Install and adjust cutting tools; optimize feeds, speeds, and depth of cut to achieve quality parts.
  • Inspect parts using gauges, calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, surface plates, and microscopes; perform in-process inspection and SPC.
  • Maintain equipment cleanliness and reliability; perform routine maintenance and report improper machine functioning.
  • Contribute to lean initiatives by identifying areas for productivity and cost improvements and applying lean concepts.
  • Complete required documentation such as shop travelers, quality logs, and nonconformance reports as applicable.
